Green Bay - Michael Francis Ehlen, 66, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2022 after a short illness.

Mike was born in Lancaster, California, on October 16, 1955 to Ronald and Charmaine Ehlen. Ron and Charmaine were employed at Edwards Air Force Base and Mike was the first of their five children.

Mike attended Ashwaubenon High School, Class of 1974, where he picked up his nickname of "Gringo". He later earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Michigan Technological University. He worked as a contractor for many companies including Paper Converting Machine Co., Curt G. Joa Inc., Superior Engineering, Krueger International, Northern Technical Services, Integrated Design Corp., H.G. Weber & Co, Inc. and Little Rapids Corporation. He retired from Georgia Pacific in February 2021.

Mike spent many years volunteering for Special Olympics of Wisconsin, where he received their Award of Excellence in 2005.

He loved family get-togethers and was a great cook. He loved watching cooking shows and bought every kitchen gadget he could. He would send pictures of his cooking creations to his siblings.

Mike is survived by his 2 brothers Patrick (Beth) Ehlen and James Ehlen and his sister Teresa (Tim) Oettinger; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jeff and sister in laws Rebecca (Lund) Ehlen and Leslie (Sackatook) Ehlen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (2270 S. Oneida St. Green Bay, Wisconsin 54304) with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Friends may join the family in prayer at the mass. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at a later date.

A memorial is being established in Mike's name.
